Standing on the street in which a drunken driver ran down her daughter last Saturday, Joey-Lynn Overton remembered Brittany Blakely as being full of life and someone who made others always feel comfortable.
Blakely and her fiancée Chris Clanton were walking home on Cox Street when investigators say illegal immigrant Jesus Morales hit the couple.
Morales was later charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
"It's awful and he shouldn't have been (driving)," said Overton. "I'm sure everybody has done it a time or two and you just never know. It could be late at night or in the morning and you just never know who you're going to hurt."
Overton says her daughter and Clanton moved to Asheboro from Nevada just a few months ago. But even in that short time, the outgoing teen touched many lives.
