Tokyo Electric Power Co. rose, gaining 12.6% after a Dow Jones Newswires reported Japan's cabinet has approved draft legislation to parliament nuclear compensation.
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. led the automotive sector, with shares up 2.1%, after estimating an increase of 28% for its fiscal year profit.
