Yemen President Suffers Burns & Lung Problems

Injuries suffered by Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh was quite serious. The Yemeni leader suffered burns on his body which reached 40 percent. In addition, his lungs were problematic.

Thus disclosed U.S. government officials as reported by CNN, Monday, June 6.

Saleh injured in artillery attack to the presidential palace on Friday, June 3 last. Consequently, Saleh was taken to a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for treatment.

Yemen's largest opposition group vowed to prevent the return of Saleh to the country. A spokesman for the opposition Joint Meeting Parties, Mohammed Qahtan said that the people of Yemen will make every effort to prevent Saleh reentering this country.

However, Saudi television, Ekhbariya reported that Saleh had underwent two operations in Saudi Arabia and will return to Yemen after healed. His return would occur within a few days.

A Middle East expert, Christopher Boucek doubted Saleh would return to Yemen.
